Dr Catriona Ireland
Dr Ireland graduated from Sydney University in 1993 and obtained her FRACP specializing in geriatrics in 2001. She spent 15 years working in Orange in regional NSW before returning to live in Sydney. She has a keen interest in helping individuals find the best ways to optimize their health by considering all their medical conditions and treatments in the context of their goals for their health care. For the older patient this can include concerns about maintaining strength and independence, avoiding falls and preserving cognitive function and mental health. She also has many years of experience in the diagnosis and management of memory problems and the challenging issues they raise for patients and their families.
Patients are warmly invited to discuss what concerns them most so a management plan to move towards their goals can be tailor made. Strategies generally include personalized ways to optimize nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management along with discussing any appropriate medical investigations and treatments.
Dr Ireland is a warm, engaged and practical clinician who maintains a high level of expertise in the care of older patients along with a strong interest in the neuroscience of optimizing brain health in all adults.
